We're Fractal

An inclusive agenic primarily queer autistic ticcing system!

Terms!

How to refer to us, and an explanation of why. Certain terms will be encouraged, some will be explicitly discouraged (list at the bottom). Some may have individual preferences, although because we cannot reasonably state all individual preferences using the blanket terms is ok in all situations.

Collectively

We are ok with the term "system", primarily because of what "Fractal System" means, but we prefer using the term "plural" as an adjective for us (ex: "they're plural" instead of "they're a system"). Also different subgroups and subplurals have some different preferences for this term (ex: Firefly is an odyssey or venture).

The Fractal Set is sounding cool rn. - Aaron

Non-Plural

Terms that don't have anything to do with plurality. When talking about us as autistic, simply use autistic. If it's difficult to fit in grammar-wise, using autism is acceptable.

Individually

In most situations when dealing with exclusively humans/humanoids "people" is preferred, and otherwise "headmates", because while we're generally fine with terms like "members" "sysmates" etc. there are some of us who are uncomfortable. Feel free to get creative though!

-tives

Most -tives are fictives, with a few fuzztives, fcktives, and mythtives. Please don't use the term "introject" unless absolutely necessary for us! If you have an idea for a term to use as a group for these other than -tives please tell us.

Roles

We usually don't use roles such as "gatekeeper" "trauma holder" "protector" etc. There are those who fit them, but for us the usage of these terms in general feels confining. We do use certain ones that we consider descriptions, such as "fictive" "little" "non-human" etc. as they don't describe a function.

Don't Use!

Please don't use medical terms such as "alter" "introject" "personalities" "ego states" etc. any disorder term as we are not a disordered plural, "ASD" "on the spectrum" as Autism is a spectrum, but we are just autistic, or anything to refer to headmates who aren't something as something such as "spirit" "demon" etc. for us.

DNI + Boundaries

  • Sysmeds/anti-endos/system exclusionists

  • fakeclaimers

  • recount non-traumadumping experiences of yours that relate to ours (everyone's experiences are amazing!)

  • make jokes about disabilties/experiences you and us share with tone tags (/j works)

  • asking questions about our neutral/positive experiences in our identities

  • joke on serious posts (singular exception in do)

  • police our language and tone surrounding our experiences

  • defend something as a joke or not serious (even if tone tags were used)

  • remarks or questions unrelated to the topic on serious vids

  • asking us to justify or say we need to explain or be able to explain our terms or origins

  • assume that saying/asking something will always receive a response (many reasons why we may not)
